LONDON: Russian President Vladimir Putin is humiliating himself on the international stage, said to UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who has called for stronger penalties against Moscow.
According to the BBC, she stated at a G7 summit that sanctions should not be relaxed until all Russian forces have departed Ukraine. Truss also demanded that more weaponry be provided to Ukraine to help it defend itself. According to the BBC, she addressed a gathering of G7 foreign ministers in Germany that Putin must be defeated in order to avert additional aggression.
"Putin is humiliating himself on the world stage," she said, adding that he should not be rewarded for his invasion of Ukraine. She also demanded that Ukraine be given more access to NATO military hardware. G7 foreign ministers will meet with their Ukrainian and Moldovan counterparts again on Friday.
Foreign Secretary has urged world leaders to keep the pressure on Putin by implementing further international sanctions and providing additional arms to Ukraine.
Over the last three days, the G7 foreign ministers have met in Germany to examine the crisis in Ukraine and its consequences, particularly the rise in food and energy costs around the world.
