Qatar has postponed the opening of the stadium used in the FIFA World Cup to be held in the year 2022. FIFA has stated that the Education City Stadium was to be unveiled on 18 December this year during the semi-final match of the Club World Cup. One team in this match is Liverpool while the other team has not been decided.

Due to the delay in getting certificates from the local authorities to the stadium, this club World Cup match will be played at the Khalifa International Stadium. Education City will now be unveiled in 2020, but FIFA has not announced any set date for it.

FIFA said, "Construction of the Education City Stadium has been completed and the venue is now operational. However, it is taking longer than expected to get the required certificate. In such a situation the stadium was unable to host the necessary test matches before the semi-finals and finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
