New Delhi: Kuwait singer Ibtisam Hamid has left Islam and converted to Judaism, after which many Muslims are opposing his move. The singer Ibtisam is known as Basma-al-Kuwaiti in Arabia. She has announced to renounce Islam by posting a video on social media. She said that the Jewish religion is more tolerant towards women, which is why she is adopting it.

She declared that she was leaving Islam of her own volition. She has said, "Islam is a religion of terror and hypocrisy. It hates women, suppresses them, and perpetrates violence with them. Islam never grants women their full rights. Therefore, I proudly say that I am Jewish now." At the same time, she accused Kuwait's ruling political party al-Sabah of spoiling relations with Israel.

She said that the party did not try to normalize relations with Israel. She also said that al-Sabah denies religious and ideological freedom. Singer Ibtisam Hamid said that she neither had any connection with this party nor did she support it. Ibtisam had said in a statement in the year 2018 that music is forbidden in Islam and she wants directions from God in this matter. She says that she remembers the entire Quran from her childhood.
