R N Ravi, Ex-Governor of Nagaland, now sworn-in as Tamil Nadu Governor

R.N. Ravi, former Governor of Nagaland, was sworn in as Governor of Tamil Nadu on Saturday, Seotembr18. Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Justice Sanjib Banerjee administered the oath of office to RN Ravi.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, who accompanied Ravi to the stage, presented a book to the new Governor after he took his oath of office. He also felicitated Ravi's wife. Following this, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. Stalin introduced his Cabinet colleagues to the new Governor. Chief Justice Shri Banerjee introduced the judges of the Madras High Court to Ravi.

Former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Union Minister of State, L. Murugan of the BJP, were allotted seats behind the TN Cabinet ministers. Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan, MDMK general secretary Vaiko were among the other leaders who graced the occasion.

Ravi, an I.P.S officer of 1976 batch from Kerala cadre, who had retired as the Special Director in Intelligence Bureau in the year 2012, was appointed as the government interlocutor on the Naga peace discussions in 2014.  In 2015, he signed a framework agreement with the NSCN-IM on behalf of the Centre on August 3, 2015, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and later in 2019 he was made the Governor along with his interlocutor’s responsibility.
