Dhaka: On the morning of 7 October, the officials of Kali Mandir in Dautia village discovered the idol in pieces.
According to local media, an idol of a deity was vandalized at a Hindu temple in Bangladesh's Zenaidah, prompting the police to search for the perpetrators.

According to the temple committee president Sukumar Kund, the authorities at the Kali temple in Dautia village broke the idol into pieces on Friday morning.

District Assistant Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Burman said that after the registration of the case, investigation has been started on Thursday. Sukumar claimed that thieves broke into the temple at night and destroyed the idol. According to bdnews24.com, the head of the idol was found lying on the road half a kilometer away from the temple.

The incident happened a day after idols were immersed to mark the end of Bangladesh's annual 10-day Durga Puja celebrations on the auspicious day of Vijayadashami or Dussehra.

Attacks on Hindu temples continue

This is not the first time a temple has been vandalized. On March 17 this year, idols were stolen from the ISKCON Radhakanta Jeev Mandir in Dhaka. The miscreants also allegedly assaulted several followers.

According to temple public relations officer Amani Krishna Das, over 200 terrorists led by Haji Shafiullah attacked, ransacked and looted the ISKCON Radhakanta temple at 222, Lal Mohan Saha Street in Wari.

The ISKCON official said that the "miscreants tried to break the security wall of the temple".

ISKCON officials said that on October 16, 2021, a temple in Noakhali city of Bangladesh was vandalized and a devotee was murdered by a mob.
