Rafale jets deal: French defence minister arrives in Delhi

New Delhi: On Thursday night, French defence minister Jean Yves Le Drian arrived in National Capital to sign the deal of 36 Rafale jets which costs 7.8 billion.

According to the Defence Ministry, “he deal for the aircraft, the first fighter jet deal in 20 years, will be signed today in the presence of defence minister Manohar Parrikar and Drian”.

Jets will come equipped with latest missiles and weapon system, and one of its important features is Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Meteor air-to-air missile with a range in excess of 150 km.

This strategic weapon will help in providing IAF a cutting edge over arch rival as Pakistan at present has only a BVR with 80 km range.
