Ragi Poori is a South Indian dish which is served with any type of curry of your choice on many festive seasons and celebratory events. Ragi is one magnanimous ingredient which gives a new and strange taste and colour to this poor. It would be liked by the people of age groups and after having the very first bite of this poor, people are going to appreciate it to no end. This easy-to-make recipe can be made at home within minutes. Made with ragi, flour, sesame seeds, potato and with spices, this poori recipe tastes amazing and delectable. We say you should serve it when you are having guests at your house and be ready to get showered with compliments. Go ahead and try it!

Ingredients of Ragi Poori

1 cup ragi flour

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

1 cup boiled potato

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

refined oil as required

3 tablespoon whole wheat flour

water as required

1 pinch asafoetida

salt as required

How to make Ragi Poori

Step 1

To begin with, peel and mash the boiled potatoes. Transfer the mashed potatoes to the bowl and add ragi flour, ¾ cup of wheat flour to the potatoes.

Step 2

Add red chili powder, salt, asafoetida and mix it well. Meanwhile, dry roast the sesame seeds and then, add it to the bowl containing mashed potatoes. Mix the ingredients well.

Step 3

Knead it to a soft dough using the appropriate amount of lukewarm water. When done, divide it into equal portions and roll each portion into a shape of balls.

Step 4

Using the remaining dry flour, roll the balls in a shape of pooris. Roll all the pooris from the remaining balls. Meanwhile, heat oil in a kadhai.

Step 5

Place a poori in heated oil and deep fry it until golden brown in colour. Let it puff and then, gently flip it and cook on the other side as well.

Step 6

When done, transfer the poor to an absorbent paper and drain the excess oil. Then, serve it hot with a pickle.
