Bollywood actor Rahul Bose recently shared a video of two 442-rupee bananas served at the Five Star Hotel and made a splash on social media. Rahul's video was followed by a fierce mockery of the hotel on social media and now taking the matter seriously, a high-level inquiry has been ordered against Hotel J W Marriott by Chandigarh's Deputy Commissioner, Excise-Taxation Commissioner Dilip Singh Barar. Rahul Bose stayed at the J W Marriott Hotel during the shooting of his film.

According to media reports, Dilip Singh Brar said, "We have taken cognizance of the video. Based on the bill posted on Twitter by Rahul Bose, I have ordered an inquiry and I have asked Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Rajiv Chowdhury for a thorough investigation into the matter. How did the hotel impose GST on fresh fruits? If found guilty, strict action will be taken against him.

Rahul Bose had stayed at the J W Marriott Hotel in Chandigarh during the shooting of his film in the past. There Rahul had asked for two bananas for dinner, and the hotel had sent a long bill along with the bananas. The bill was written next to Food on two bananas at Rs 33.75 next to Centre GST (CGST) and Rs 33.75 next to Union Territorial GST (UTGST). In all, the bill was Rs 442.50. Rahul shared a video on July 22 expressing displeasure over the bill.
