BANTWAL (KARNATAKA):  A hullabaloo erupted after a video rounded on social media which ostensibly showing Congress president Rahul Gandhi "disrespecting" the national song Vande Mataram at a rally in poll-bound Karnataka surfaced. The BJP attacked back at Rahul Gandhi, alleging Gandhi Scion does not respect the national song while a charge dismissed by the Congress as "absolutely false."

"He (Gandhi) does not have respect for the national song. What can we expect from him," the BJP wrote with its official Twitor handle, after a local TV channel screened a clip of the alleged event even as Congress hailed as it as a "fake video".

The video shows Rahul sitting on a stage with some senior Congress leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress in-charge of the state KV Venugopal. Rahul Gandhi is seen pointing at his watch, in a gesture seen as a sign to conclude the event.

A person is then heard asking the singer to "just sing a line (of Vande Mataram) and finish it off." As the person starts singing "Vande Mataram", Venugopal is seen pushing Rahul Gandhi to stand up.

Confiscating on this, the BJP tweeted, "Today, RG (Rahul Gandhi) asked to cut it to just one line, reminding us of INC's total disregard for the song."

Former union minister and Congress leader Rajeev Shukla send away the video as "absolutely false" accusation and termed it a "fake video".
