New Delhi: Ghulam Nabi Azad, one of the leaders who wrote a letter to Congress Working President Sonia Gandhi on the demand for leadership change and organization election, has presented his explanation in the Congress Working Committee meeting. Along with this, he also offered to resign. Scolded by Rahul Gandhi accusing him of supporting the BJP, Azad said he would resign if he was helping the BJP in some form.
According to sources, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that he will resign if Rahul Gandhi's allegations are proved. Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi has said that the letter written to improve the party is the result of collusion with the BJP. Rahul has also questioned the timing of the letter. Dissatisfied with the explanation of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Priyanka Vadra said that what you are saying is completely different from what you have written in the letter.
Two dozen Congress leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Azad, have written a letter to party chief Sonia Gandhi, demanding major changes in the organization. These leaders have appealed for major changes in the organization by bringing reforms like decentralization of power, empowerment of state units and formation of Central Parliamentary Board. Although the Central Parliamentary Board was in the Congress until the 1970s, it was later abolished. The letter emphasizes collective decision making and in that process calls for making the Gandhi family an 'integral part'.
