New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi will officially swear in for the presidential chair of the Congress Party on Saturday.The Central Election Authority president Mullapally Ramachandran will hand over the Certificate of Election to the newly-crowned uncontested president of the Congress.Must thank departing President Ms Sonia Gandhi for her remarkable contribution to the party, RPN Singh, Congress representative asserted.The Uncontested 47-year-old Congress president Rahul Gandhi officially takes over the reins of the ostentatious party two days before the counting of votes for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh polls.Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, current and former Chief Ministers, MPs, higher-ranking Congress leaders, and all PCC chiefs and delegates will attend the coronation ceremony.On Friday, asked about her role after her son takes over charge of the party, Sonia Gandhi said that now her role will be to retire. The Congress spokespersons were quickly added that she was retiring from the chair of the party president, not from politics.

Rahul Gandhi was on December 11became the Uncontested President of the Congress after all 89 votes were cast in his favour.Party Supporters have gathered outside the Congress headquarters at Delhi's Akbar road. Party workers burst crackers and raised slogans to hold up Rahul Gandhi, ahead of him taking over the chair of a party president.
