Kota (Rajasthan) [India], Oct 25 (NT): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday fired questions at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence over the rape allegations levelled against his party associate Uttar Pradesh Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

Worth mention here Sengar is accused of raping a 19-year-old girl and grabbed the headiness in past days for wrong reasons .

The Congress scion further said that the Prime Minister gave the slogan of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', but when it came to doing justice he is a mum and not ready to MLA ousted from the party.

"An Uttar Pradesh MLA raped a woman, but the Prime Minister remained silent. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister did not say a word. Prime Minister gave a good slogan in support of women, but when the time came to walk the talk, he did nothing," the Congress chief was quoted by the leading new agency ANI when Gandhi was addressing a Mahila Congress event in poll-bound Rajasthan's Kota.

Apart from this he underlined that Congress party supports the upliftment of women and intends to raise its contribution in this direction.

Once again Rahul claimed same on CBI vs CBI tussle saying that the PM Modi led central government forcibly sent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Alok Verma on leave as he was collecting documents related to Rs 58,000 crore Rafale deal.

For unversed the state will go to polls on December 7.
