New Delhi: Congress Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi was convicted by the Surat court in the 'saare Modi Chor Hain' case. Along with this, the court sentenced him to 2 years in jail, however, later granted bail, from the same court within a few minutes. But today on Friday (March 24), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got the biggest blow. Actually, Rahul Gandhi's membership of the Lok Sabha has losted.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has taken this decision on Friday. Explain that, according to the rules, any MP or MLA has to lose membership after getting a sentence of two years or more. That is, simply speaking, Rahul Gandhi is no longer a Member of Parliament and his Wayanad seat has become vacant. Let us inform that, in this case former Congress leader and lawyer by profession Kapil Sibal has already said that, Rahul Gandhi becomes automatically disqualified as an MP with a jail term of two years.

Lily Thomas Vs Union of India Case :-Senior advocate Kapil Sibal also cited the example of Lily Thomas vs Union of India case of 2013. In which the Supreme Court ruled that 'any MP, MLA or MLC who is convicted of an offense and sentenced to a minimum of 2 years in jail, loses membership of the House with immediate effect'.
