New Delhi: Political parties are opposing administrator Praful Patel over proposals to change beef ban, anti-goonda act, eligibility in panchayat elections, development authority in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. Now former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has also tried to corner the Central government by protesting in this regard.

Rahul Gandhi, MP from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, tweeted that "Lakshadweep is the jewel of India in the sea. The ignorant sitting in power are destroying it. I stand with the people of Lakshadweep". Earlier on Tuesday, Priyanka Vadra had tried to corner the BJP government at the Centre in 3 tweets in this regard. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote that the people of Lakshadweep deeply understand and respect the rich natural and cultural heritage of the islands in which they live. They have always protected and nurtured it.

Priyanka had alleged that the BJP government and its administration had no right to destroy this legacy, harass the people. Priyanka said 'Dialogue upholds democracy, why can't the people of Lakshadweep be consulted? Why can't they be asked what they believe is good for them and for Lakshadweep? How can anyone who doesn't know do that?'.
