Lucknow: Congress General Secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia, who was in charge of western Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections, has called for strengthening the party in the state. Scindia was present at the 6-and-a-half hour marathon meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday. It discussed the reasons for the party's defeat in the state.

Talking to reporters after exiting the meeting, Scindia said, the suggestions of the candidates and party leaders have revealed that we have to work hard at the grassroots level to improve the infrastructure of the Congress. On the other hand, Priyanka has said that she will meet Eastern UP workers two days a week. Scindia denies any alliance with the Congress party in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 2022.

At the same time, he said, the party will fight the assembly elections on its own. The election preparations will begin in the next two weeks. Scindia said that a review meeting will be held again after two weeks. The final will be held after consultations with grassroots leaders for the by-elections to 12 assembly seats. Earlier on June 12, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who was in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh, had also held a meeting in Rae Bareli with the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
