New Delhi: The government and the opposition are at loggerheads over the Pegasus espionage issue in the monsoon session of Parliament. Many opposition parties led by Congress want to discuss the issue. Showing opposition unity, several opposition leaders, including former Congress National President and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi, rode bicycles to Parliament on Tuesday. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had reached Parliament by driving a tractor. ANI also shared a video of Rahul Gandhi cycling under which people are calling it a gimmick. A user named Chandan Tandon commented on his video and wrote that after the immense failure of tractor gimmicks, the bicycle gimmick... In order to strengthen opposition unity, several political parties were invited for breakfast by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. In the meeting, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said opposition parties can discuss among themselves. We should all raise our voice on the issue of petrol and diesel, we can march bicycles from here to Parliament. A meeting of opposition leaders was held at the Constitution Club in Delhi at the invitation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC), RJD, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party (SP), and many other parties have attended the meeting. The meeting deliberated on how to corner the government in the time left for the monsoon session of Parliament.
Among the political parties to which Rahul Gandhi had sent an invitation, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have distanced themselves from the meeting. None of the leaders of these parties reached Rahul Gandhi's meeting. At the same time, leaders of parties like Congress, NCP, RJD, SP, RLD, Communist Party Marxist, CPI, JMM, TMC, etc. attended the meeting of Rahul Gandhi.
