NEW DELHI: The government has collapsed after the vote of the confidence vote in Karnataka on Tuesday. The Congress and JD(S) coalition government led by Chief Minister Kumaraswamy could not win a confidence vote in the Assembly on Tuesday. 20 MLAs did not attend the house for a confidence vote in the 225-member Karnataka Assembly. Assembly Speaker K. enmity. Ramesh Kumar told the members of the House after the confidence vote that Chief Minister H.K. Singh was not present at the meeting. D. Kumar Swamy could not win the trust vote. He said, there are 99 votes in favor of the trust vote while 105 votes have been cast against it.

Describing the collapse of the HD Kumaraswamy-led coalition government in the Karnataka Assembly as a "democracy, honesty and defeat of the people of the state", Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday that the greed of vested interests has finally won. Rahul Gandhi wrote: "From its first day, the Congress-JDS government was the target of those vested interests inside and outside. Those who saw this alliance as a threat and obstacle to their path to power were won today. Democracy, honesty and the people of Karnataka were defeated."

Earlier, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had accused BJP of systematically weakening institutions and democracy. "One day the BJP will know that everything cannot be bought, not everyone can be left behind and every lie is finally exposed," he said.
