Kochi: Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal has praised the commitment of Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He informed that on the third day after the start of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi had a serious knee problem, and that time was very difficult for him (Rahul). Venugopal said that a situation had come in the initial days of the yatra when Rahul Gandhi started having knee problems. Then Rahul thought that someone else should lead the yatra in his place.

Venugopal said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had also announced that perhaps due to severe pain, Rahul may have to leave the padayatra and another senior leader may be entrusted with the yatra. A function was organized at the state Congress headquarters to honor the Bharat Jodo Yatra's participants from Kerala. In the program, Venugopal told that, 'On the third day of the yatra which started from Kanyakumari, Rahul's knee pain increased on entering Kerala. One night he (Rahul) called me to explain the seriousness of his knee pain and asked another leader to lead the Yatra in his place.'

Venugopal said, 'After this Priyanka Vadra's call came and she was told about the seriousness of Rahul Gandhi's knee pain. She also considered suggesting handing over the Yatra to some other senior leader.' Venugopal told that at that time everyone was wishing him (Rahul) to get well soon. Rahul Gandhi then suggested a physiotherapist, who was included in his medical team and he got treated. Venugopal further said, 'By the grace of God, Rahul's pain got cured.'  And the Yatra was carried out further smoothly.
