Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on the poor condition of the National Highway between Chennai and Ranipet. Stalin claimed that the condition of the road is so bad that he had to travel to some districts by train recently. In fact, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had said in Parliament that the state of Tamil Nadu is not cooperating with NHAI. On this, CM Stalin said in a letter to the Union Minister that the statement of the Union Minister is unfortunate. Stalin said that this is not true.

Chief Minister Stalin said the road provides "vital connectivity" to Chennai and its ports to industrial clusters in Kanchipuram, Vellore, Ranipet, Hosur, and Krishnagiri. He said that I would like to bring to your notice the request made by MP Dayanidhi Maran on the floor of the Parliament to improve the condition of the present road from Chennai to Ranipet (NH-4). Chennai city and its ports have important connectivity to industrial clusters at Kanchipuram, Vellore, Ranipet, Hosur, and Krishnagiri.

CM Stalin said that the condition of the road is so bad that he had to plan his recent trips to some districts by train. While this request by our MP was quite specific, we were disappointed by your reply which was very non-committal.
