New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will pay a visit to the Ravidas Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, On the occasion of Sant Guru Ravidas' birth anniversary on today.

On Wednesday morning, the Congress leader would pay homage at Seer Goverdhanpur.  In view of Guru Ravidas' birth anniversary, the Election Commission of India (ECI) postponed Punjab Assembly elections. Earlier, the State was set to hold elections on February 14.

The BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party requested the poll panel to reschedule the date because Guru Ravidas' followers would be unable to vote if elections were held two days before the festival since they travel to Varanasi for an annual pilgrimage on the Guru's birthday. In addition, Assembly elections are taking place in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi will campaign in Uttar Pradesh today as part of her tour to the state. In Kanpur Cantt and Kidwai Nagar, she would hold a door-to-door campaign. After that, there will be a door-to-door campaign in Sisamau and Arya Nagar. She will then take part in the Mahila Shakti Garjana at Kanpur's Govindnagar.
