Agriculture Bills: Rail Roko movement of farmers intensified, 14 trains cancelled

Chandigarh: Farmers' agitation intensified against the three Farmers Bills by the Modi government at the Center. On Thursday, farmers in Punjab started a three-day rail roko movement in the state. Farmers in Amritsar, Ferozepur cities of the state have sat on a protest on the railway track, due to which the movement of vehicles coming and going towards Delhi were affected. 

The farmers have announced Punjab Bandh on 25 September. Due to this Ferozepur Railway Division has cancelled 14 trains. Not only this, the farmers have called for an indefinite bandh on October 1. 31 farmers associations unite for the Punjab bandh to be held on 25 September in protest against the agriculture bills. The Kisan Shramik Sangharsh Committee has already called for a rail roko movement between 24 and 26 September. Darshan Pal, President of the Revolutionary Farmers Unit, said that among those who supported the Punjab bandh, mainly Bharti Kisan Union (Revolutionary), Kirti Kisan Union, Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), Bhakiu (Doaba), Bhakiyu (Lakhowal) and Bhakiyu (Qadis) etc. organizations are included.

The three bills passed by the Center last week include the Agricultural Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Simplification) Bill-2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance Agreement and the Agricultural Services Agreement, Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill. PM Narendra Modi had assured the farmers that these bills will benefit the farmers.
