Railways floats tender for 58 Vande Bharat trains after PM's announcement

New Delhi: Indian Railways has floated tenders for running 58 Vande Bharat trains. Pm Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech had announced that 75 Vande Bharat trains will be introduced in 75 weeks on the occasion of 'Amrit Mahotsav of Independence'. Now the Railways seems to be active for it.

It may be mentioned that only two Vande Bharat trains are running right now. Vande Bharat train is a semi-high speed train like Shatabdi and its fare is also premium. The new coach for this train will be manufactured at Integral Coach Factory Chennai, Modern Coach Factory Rae Bareli, and Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala.  According to media reports, the last date for these tenders is October 20. The pre-bid meeting will be held on September 21 and the last date for submission of pre-bid inquiries will be September 14. The tender has been floated only on August 28. Under this, bids have been invited for testing of design, development, manufacturing, integration, and traction propulsion electrics of 58 Vande Bharat trains.

In his speech on August 15 from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi had said that on the completion of 75 years of Independence, the 'Amrut Mahotsav of Independence' will be celebrated across the country for 75 weeks. To mark this, Railways will also introduce 75 Vande Bharat trains to connect all parts of the country.
