NEW DELHI: Ensuring Passenger Safety: Indian Railways Takes Proactive Security Measures, Informs Union Minister Vaishnaw.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed that Indian Railways remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of its passengers. To achieve this goal, the railway authorities have taken decisive actions. One significant measure involves the installation of CCTV systems at 866 railway stations across the country. These surveillance systems serve as vigilant and intelligent units, making a positive impact on various aspects of railway security.

Notably, the implementation of these CCTV systems has facilitated the rescue of trafficked children, enhanced the protection of women passengers, and provided aid to the elderly. Moreover, railway stations situated near border areas receive special attention, with dedicated Railway Protection Force (RPF) deployment and other customized arrangements.

During the discussions about the CCTV systems, Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the significance of cyber security, particularly concerning Internet Protocol (IP)-based CCTV systems. It is of utmost importance to ensure the robustness and inviolability of these systems, preventing any potential compromises.

An IP-based video surveillance system represents a digitized and networked version of the conventional Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) setup. Through these advanced measures, Indian Railways continues its steadfast commitment to passenger safety and security.
