Patna: Once again, all the employees of Indian Railways have now decided to take relief measures regarding night duty allowance. The Railway Ministry has announced to restore the night allowance for the employees. The allowance will be given to train drivers, train operations staff and maintenance staff. At present, railway employees who received a salary of more than Rs 43,600 were not getting it.
However, earlier this allowance was received by all railway employees. Recently, the Ministry of Railways had set a limit for this allowance. The employees who received more than Rs 43,600 were ordered to close the night allowance. The Railway Ministry had sent a letter in this regard on behalf of the Board for approval on November 23 last year to the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance. It was stated on behalf of the Secretary, Railway Board that the Department of Expenditure has sent a copy of the office memorandum to the Department of Personnel and Training on December 16, 2021.
Not only that, a reference has been given to the DOPT on this issue. At the moment, the board is waiting for a reply from the DOPT. Only then will the further process begin. On the other hand, after the night duty allowance was closed, in the meantime, all the unions of the railway employees had strongly opposed it. This decision of the railways had affected 3 lakh, railway workers. In this development, the Ministry of Railways again appealed to the Finance Ministry to find an early solution to the issue. According to sources, a decision on this is expected soon.
