Bhopal: Heavy rains have worsened the situation in several states of the country amid the corona epidemic. The situation in the Gwalior-Chambal division is deteriorating day by day. The water level in the Chambal river is continuously rising, at present, the water level of the river has reached 122 metres. This is causing distress to the surrounding villages. An alert has been sounded in the villages along the river.

Residents in the villages near the Chambal river are being explained for safety and vigilance. Officials of the district and concerned department have been instructed to keep all preparations. In view of heavy rains, a control room has been set up at the divisional office in Gwalior, and helpline numbers have also been issued for the problems of the general public. It may be recalled that the MET department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Sheopur, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Ashoknagar, Datia and Guna districts of the Gwalior-Chambal division of MP. The situation has worsened so much at many places due to rain that army assistance has to be sought. In the Gwalior Chambal division, almost every village is in a flood situation. People are leaving their homes with essential items to save their lives and reaching a safe place.
