Meteorological Department issues alert of heavy rain in Mumbai

The rains have continued in Mumbai for the last two days. Due to the rains in Mumbai, water has accumulated at various places. The Meteorological Department has announced a Red Alert on Wednesday for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and some other areas of the state. Wednesday and Thursday alerts have been issued for Thane, Palghar, Nashik.

Due to the continuous rain, water has also accumulated in the Sion King Circle in Mumbai. This is affecting traffic. On Tuesday, local train services on some routes were suspended due to waterlogging on the tracks of Mumbai and suburban areas. Traffic from western suburb towards southern Mumbai is being affected due to landslide on Tuesday on Western Express Highway in suburb Kandivali.

After many employees did not reach the court in South Mumbai, the Bombay High Court postponed the online hearing of many cases. The Maharashtra government declared a holiday in its office located in Mumbai and suburban areas due to rain. Two fishermen have gone missing while a boat capsized in the sea, about 12 km off the Gorai coast of North Mumbai, while 11 people have been rescued. A 35-year-old woman and her two children have washed away in a drain in upscale Santa Cruz. In Thane, one person died after being struck by electric current due to the rainy night.
