Rain in Telangana: Godavari water level rises in Bhadrachalam, high alert likely to be issued

Kothagudem: Due to heavy rains in the district on Tuesday, the water level of Godavari river in Bhadrachalam has reached 33 feet. Concerned officials said that a warning alert would be issued to the public if the water level continues to rise. It has been observed that there is heavy flow of irrigation projects in Kothagudem district due to incessant rains.

It is learned that 36,700 cusecs of water was released by lifting 19 gates of Taliperu project at Cherla. Similarly, Pedavagu project in Aswarapet mandal and Lothuvagu and Isukavagu in Ashwapuram mandal were seen overflowing. Similarly, Kinnarsani, Taliperu projects were flooded. Concerned officials visited the colonies submerged in rain water and carried out rescue operations. After the meteorological department issued a warning of heavy rain, the officials of the electricity department have been directed to remain on duty for 24 hours.

Incessant rains for the last three days have caused floods in Hyderabad city and suburban areas. Power outages were also seen in many areas. Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director G. Raghuma Reddy reviewed the power supply in the city along with assistant engineers from various localities of the corporation in a video conference. He advised the power officers to be on duty for 24 hours.
