Rajamahendravaram: The people of the district are worried about the spread of malaria, dengue and viral fever. The onset of severe epidemics and seasonal diseases is giving sleepless nights to those people. Malaria and viral fever are spreading especially in all areas. According to District Malaria Officer PV Satyanarayana, a total of 77 malaria cases have been reported in the district this year. So far this year, 25 cases have been reported in Rampachodvaram, 52 in Yatpaka. District Malaria Officer Dr. Satyanarayana said that fever test has been done in the houses having malaria positive cases and medical camps have been organized. Anti-larva campaign is being run through Gram Panchayats.
To prevent active transmission in the community, focal spray is carried out in flood affected villages in subunits Devipatnam and Yetpaka division wherever malaria cases are reported. Rao said officials were also conducting rapid fever surveys in all. 431 revenue villages of the district. Medical teams are providing medicines from door to door when someone has fever. He said that anti-larva campaign is being run continuously for about 8 weeks.
Satyanarayana said that the dreadful spread of dengue fever and malarial fever is under control in the district so far, when its incidence was compared in the previous years. Rampachodavaram has 18 primary health centres, two community health centers and one regional hospital. The shortage of paramedical and doctors in government hospitals has become a curse for the tribals. According to the officials of the Medical and Health Department, 10 posts of Civil Assistant Surgeon are vacant in Rampa Agency area. A total of 506 para-medical staff services are required in the hospitals. However, only 272 employees are working in the hospitals.
