Jaipur: A tribal woman has accused a Rajasthan Police constable in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The woman alleged that the constable took her to a police post and then tried to rape her there. The accused constable has been suspended after the case came to light. According to police, the Panarwa police officer and assistant sub-inspector of police have been removed from the post and sent to the police line for negligence in the case.

According to the complaint, Constable Jitendra and Assistant Sub Inspector Rajkumar had taken the married tribal woman and her parents and a local person to Gujarat in a private vehicle in connection with an investigation into a missing complaint. Police suspected that the woman knew about the whereabouts of a girl who had been missing for four years. According to police, the two policemen took the tribal woman to Gujarat without a woman constable on Friday.

Before leaving for Gujarat, the woman and her parents were kept at the police station on Thursday night, where the constable allegedly tried to rape the woman. When she returned from Gujarat on Saturday, she told the local people about the incident, after which she reached the police station to register a complaint, but the case was not registered. After the intervention of the local MLA on Sunday evening, a case has been registered and an investigation has been started.
