CM Gehlot orders to install CCTV cameras in every police station in Rajasthan

Jaipur: CCTV cameras will be installed at all police stations in Rajasthan. This will keep a close watch on the functioning of the police. The functioning of the police is often questioned. It will now provide relief to the victims who come to the police stations. CM Ashok Gehlot has instructed to put up CCTV cameras in police stations.

Gehlot has approved setting up of state and district level monitoring committees to monitor the work and complete it in a time-bound manner. An additional financial provision of Rs. 8 crores 40 lakh has been approved for the first phase for installation of CCTV cameras in police stations. The proposals of the Home Department and the Finance Department have been approved in this regard. Instructions have been issued to install CCTV cameras at all police stations including entry and evacuation gates. The total cost of installation of CCTV cameras in police stations is more than Rs 16.80 crore.

As per the sanctioned proposal, the state level Monitoring Committee will be constituted under the leadership of principal Governance Secretary home. The Principal Secretary of Governance will be the Chief of the State Commission for Women and inspector General of Police, member of the Committee and joint Secretary of Government, police member Secretary. The Committee will regularly supervise the installation of CCTV cameras in all police stations in the state and prepare necessary contours in this regard.
