A single bench of Justice Dinesh Mehta has allowed the bail plea of Malkhan Bishnoi. With this, nine out of the 17 accused on this case have been granted bail, while the principal accused former minister Mahipal Maderna is out on interim bail on health grounds.

The Supreme Court had last month granted bail to one of many accused within the case, Parasram Bishnoi, on the grounds that it has been virtually ten years and the trial was nowhere close to completion. Referring to the apex courtroom’s order, Malkhan Bishnoi’s counsel argued that the trial of the case has taken a very long time and the accused has already spent a decade in judicial custody. Maderna’s bail plea can be pending within the High Court, which can be heard together with another accused on August 23.
