Jaipur: Health department officials themselves in Dungarpur in southern Rajasthan have reported that 500 doses of corona vaccine have been destroyed there.  Rajasthan is already surrounded by the wastage of vaccines. The BJP has demanded that the vaccine wastage in the state be investigated at the central level. Bjp leaders in the state have demanded the Central government to intervene in the matter.

Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Rajendra Rathore has written to Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan informing him about the situation by quoting various media reports. He requested the Union Minister to send an inquiry team and also to take steps to control the wastage of vaccine. He also spoke about the state's guidance for strategy amid fears of a third wave of corona. He alleged that vaccines are also being stored in the fridge.

Dr Harsh Vardhan has already written to Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma expressing concern in this regard and also asked him to strategize locally to prevent vaccine wastage. He advised to set a target of zero vestige that wastage of a vaccine dose means that we have been unable to provide necessary protection to a person. However, the Government of Rajasthan is still only 2% vestige.
