SHO Adhyatma Gautam said Murari Lal, a 55-year-old businessman from Jagdamba Colony, was on his way home from Ghantaghar Road in the city on January 15. He was stopped by a woman on the way and cited an acquaintance and asked for help of Rs 2,000. After which the businessman Murarilal gave the money to the woman. After this, the two gave each other their mobile numbers. The SHO said that on January 18, 40-year-old Mahadevi, a resident of Bhogiram Colony, called the businessman to the residence of an acquaintance of her acquaintance in housing board colony to return the money. Where the woman forcibly took off her clothes. In the meantime, the landlord Sitaram entered the house. He saw the woman and the businessman in an objectionable position. After which the landlord Sitaram demanded Rs 4 lakh from the victim, who threatened to implicate the businessman in the rape case if he did not give it.
Alarmed by the incident, the businessman confirmed the matter for Rs 2 lakh. Even after giving them money, the accused kept threatening the businessman. After which the victim lodged a complaint with kotwali police station and police have arrested Sitaram, accused of blackmailing.
