Jaipur: Corona has spread its foot in Rajasthan along with the whole country. Although the incidence of infection is low, the states are yet to recover from Corona. Due to Corona, last year saw a big impact on festivals and celebrations, while New Year was not celebrated this year. On the eve of New Year, the government had banned parties from all hotels, restaurants and farmhouses. Even after this, there was a good sale of liquor in the state on 31 December.

People will say anything about addiction to alcohol, but liquor and celebration have become two sides of the same coin. Even after a complete ban on New Year's Eve celebrations, selling alcohol in such quantities is staggering. That too when all the liquor shops across the state were closed before 8 pm. The Excise Department was also not expecting that such a large number of liquor would be sold and would get revenue. In Rajasthan, this time around Rs 70 crore worth of liquor was sold in a day. However, it is 30% less than the previous year (31 December 2019).

Due to the Corona period and the night curfew, this time, foreign tourists did not come to Rajasthan. Those who came also cancelled their plans due to the night curfew and returned to their home. Otherwise, thousands of people come to the state to celebrate and roam the New Year. Due to tourists, the sale of liquor in hotels, restaurants and bars increases by 31 days as compared to normal days, but this time it was not seen.
