Jaipur: Traffic police is taking solid steps to prevent road accidents in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Most of the road accidents in the city are believed to be caused by drunken driving. As a result, the Jaipur Police is now carrying out a special drive against drunken drivers in the city, which is also showing positive results.
In fact, there are cases of accidents in Jaipur which have claimed many lives. The incidents at JDA Circle and Trimurti Circle were reported in CCTV footage, which claimed the lives of six people. In both incidents, the accused driver was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police have now launched a campaign to crack down on drunken drivers during the night to reduce such incidents. About 20 police teams are taking action against drunken drivers from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the operation. In Jaipur, many pubs and bars are operational till late night, with young women coming out to drive on the silts by drinking alcohol at night, which is now being stopped by the police.
