JAIPUR: Today marks a significant turn in Rajasthan's politics as Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhajanlal Sharma is poised to take the oath as the Chief Minister of the state. The inauguration, scheduled for December 15th in Jaipur, will witness Governor Kalraj Mishra administering the oath of office to Sharma, along with the swearing-in of cabinet members Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa.

This event heralds a notable moment for Sharma, a first-time MLA, who clinched victory in the Sanganer assembly seat during the November 25th elections. He emerged triumphant with a staggering 145,162 votes, defeating his Indian National Congress (INC) opponent, Pushpendra Bhardwaj, who secured 97,081 votes.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to draw high-profile attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, several union ministers, and chief ministers from various states. The iconic Albert Hall will serve as the backdrop for the noon event, where security measures have been substantially beefed up.

Roads leading to the venue have been adorned with banners showcasing central government welfare schemes and larger-than-life cutouts of the leaders, creating an atmosphere of anticipation among the masses expected to attend.

Sharma's ascent to the chief ministerial post was announced during a BJP Legislature Party meeting earlier in the week, with the backing of central observers Rajnath Singh, Saroj Pandey, and Vinod Tawde. His selection was met with approval from the party, owing partly to his affiliation with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and his background as the BJP's state general secretary, holding a master's degree in political science.

Joining Sharma in the cabinet are Diya Kumari, MLA for Vidhyadhar Nagar, and Prem Chand Bairwa, MLA for Dudu, who were named as deputy chief ministers. Additionally, Ajmer North MLA Vasudev Devnani was appointed as the speaker of the assembly.

With 115 seats secured by the BJP in the assembly elections, compared to the Congress' 69, Sharma's elevation to the chief minister's role marks a turning point in Rajasthan's political narrative. The swearing-in ceremony today stands as a testament to the BJP's electoral victory and sets the stage for a new era under Bhajanlal Sharma's leadership in the state.
