In the year 2023, three big films of Shah Rukh Khan were released - 'Pathan', 'Jawaan' and 'Dunki'. All three films performed brilliantly at the box office. While 'Pathan' and 'Jawaan' earned 1000 crores, 'Dunki' earned 470 crores. However, few people know that a famous comedian Rajiv Thakur was also approached for 'Dunki'. We have all seen Rajiv Thakur in comedy shows, especially people like his character Raju in Kapil Sharma's show. Currently, Rajiv is also in the headlines for his role of a terrorist in his new web series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack'. In this series, he was seen playing a serious character, which is quite different from his comedy style.

How did he get the role in 'Dunky'?:  Rajiv Thakur has a close relationship with Mukesh Chhabra, who is a well-known casting director of Bollywood. Rajiv had asked Mukesh Chhabra for work in films many times, and when the search for an actor for Rajkumar Hirani's film 'Dunky' began, Mukesh immediately suggested Rajiv's name. After this, Rajiv got a call that Rajkumar Hirani wanted to meet him. Rajiv told, "For the last one and a half years, I was telling Mukesh paaji to at least take one audition of mine, even if he rejects me. But he said that I will call you only when I get a role worthy of you. I thought that I would get a comedy role, but then I got a chance."

Why things didn't work out?:  Rajiv Thakur was offered the role of one of the three friends in 'Dunky'. He even passed the audition and got a call to meet Rajkumar Hirani. But later he didn't get a call again. Rajiv said on this, "I was very sad, I thought that at least one meeting should have taken place, even if I didn't get the role."

How was he selected for the role of a terrorist?:  Later, when Rajeev played the role of a terrorist in 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack', he asked Mukesh Chhabra how he was selected for this role. Mukesh told that when he was relaxing in his office and watching reels, he saw a reel of Rajeev and then he felt that Rajeev would be perfect for this role.

Rajiv Thakur on the work front:  While Rajiv Thakur has made his mark in comedy, he is now trying his hand at serious roles as well. His work in his web series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack' is being appreciated, and he may be seen in many projects in the future. Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Dunky' may have slipped out of his hands, but Rajiv Thakur's journey is still on, and he is expected to get bigger opportunities in the future.
