New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today launched a series of programs organized by the Defence Ministry (MOD) and the Armed Forces ahead of celebrations for India's 75th year of independence today i.e. Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh said, "What kind of India will we build by 2047 on the completion of 100 years of Independence? We have to build 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'. A prosperous, self-reliant, self-respecting India, which does not attack any other country, but is able to give a befitting reply to any country that looks badly at us.'’
At the same time, he added, "75 years ago, India's freedom fighters took shelter in the mountains when needed, and today India is conducting mountain expeditions on the same mountains. A statement has also been issued by the Ministry of Defence and according to that statement, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) will unfurl the tricolour on 100 islands on August 15 on the 'Amrit Mahotsav of Independence'. Rajnath Singh will also launch various products and facilities to mark the 75th year of India's independence. In his address, Rajnath Singh said, "These programs have been organized by the Ministry of Defence to celebrate the Amrut Mahotsav of Independence. This includes the concerted efforts of all departments. The spirit of national consciousness and national self-respect is the most powerful spirit."
At the same time, Rajnath Singh also flagged off the Army's hill campaign. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, who was present, said, "After independence, our country faced many attacks. After which we had to enhance the capabilities of our armed forces and other security agencies to work together. Our country is a peace-loving nation but we faced some circumstances and we had to train our army for war.''
