Raksha Bandhan 2023 holds great importance as an annual festival that celebrates the cherished bonds shared among siblings. On this auspicious day, sisters lovingly tie Rakhi around their brothers' wrists, extending their wishes for joy and success. In return, brothers promise unwavering support and care, often accompanied by heartfelt gifts.

This year, Raksha Bandhan falls on the 30th of August. In several cities, banks will observe closures on both the 30th and 31st of August.

In line with the RBI holiday calendar, bank operations will pause on the 30th of August in Jaipur and Shimla. The 31st of August will witness bank closures in Dehradun, Gangtok, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram. This is attributed to Raksha Bandhan, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, and Pang-Lhabsol.

The Raksha Bandhan festival coincides with the second extended weekend of August. The sequence comprises August 26th (Saturday), August 27th (Sunday), and August 29th (Tuesday) for Onam (a Restricted Holiday). By taking a day off on August 28th, you can luxuriate in a five-day break.

Raksha Bandhan Muhurat: This year, an air of uncertainty surrounds the observance of the festival on August 30th or 31st due to Bhadra Kaal. The festival aligns with the final day of the Sawan month, synchronized with the radiance of the Full Moon. As per the Drik Panchang, the Bhadra period for Raksha Bandhan concludes at 9:01 pm on August 30th. The Bhadra Poonch phase spans from 5:30 pm to 6:31 pm, succeeded by the Bhadra Mukha interval from 6:31 pm to 8:11 pm. Furthermore, the Poornima Tithi, representing the Full Moon, commences on August 30th at 10:58 am and concludes on August 31st at 7:05 am. As outlined by the Drik Panchang, the auspicious time for the Raksha Bandhan Thread Ceremony is after 9:01 pm.
