Ranveer Singh set the internet on fire as he decided to bare it all for a photo shoot. which are all over social media, The actor recently did a naked photoshoot for a paper magazine While his fans thoroughly enjoyed the clicks, a section of netizens was not very pleased. As a result, Ranveer faced the wrath of online trolls. After which various Bollywood celebrities came in the support of the actor. Now Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma came in his support and called it an act of gender equality.

During a recent interview, Satya Director Ram Gopal Varma said, "Think it’s his way of demanding justice for gender equality. If women can show off their sexy bodies why can’t men? It’s hypocritical that men are judged by a different standard. Men should have as many equal rights as women. The director also added, "I think India is finally coming of age and I think this is Ranveer's statement on gender equality."

While yesterday at a trailer launch event Alia Bhatt also supported Ranveer Singh and said, "I don't like anything negative said about my favorite Ranveer Singh. I cannot even tolerate this question. I love him. He will be eternally favorite to every one of us actually and he has given us so much at the movies, so we should only give him love."

On the other side, two applications were filed with Mumbai Police seeking the registration of an FIR against Ranveer for "hurting sentiments of women" through his nude photographs on social media. The complaint applications were submitted separately at the Chembur police station by an office-bearer of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), also based in the east Mumbai suburb; and a woman lawyer.
