New Delhi: On the eve of Chhath Puja, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind greeted citizens, saying the festival is a unique expression of our relationship with the sun god and nature.
President Ram Nath Kovind said, Chhath Puja is one of the oldest festivals in the country. "It has significance because it is used to offer 'Arghya' to the setting sun. Devotees take holy baths in rivers and ponds at the end of the festival, after observing a strict fast during the day," President went on to say, 'This festival is a one-of-a-kind expression of our relationship with the Sun god and nature.' Hecontinued, "May this festival strengthen our eternal relationship with nature, allowing us to better protect our environment," the President said, sending warm greetings and best wishes to all Indian and international citizens on Chhath Puja.
Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival that originated in the Indian subcontinent, specifically the Indian states of Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand, as well as Nepal's southern regions.
