On this day i.e. 19 December 1927, the great freedom fighters Ram Prasad Bismil Ashfaqulla Khan and Roshan Singh were hanged. Today, this day is celebrated as Sacrifice Day. Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan and Roshan Singh gave up everything to give India independence. These freedom fighters were hanged for carrying out the Kakori incident. On the night of 9 August 1925, several revolutionaries, including Chandra Shekhar Azad, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Rajendra Lahiri and Roshan Singh, looted the government treasury being transported between Kakori and Almanagar at some distance from Lucknow. This incident is known as Kakori conspiracy in history. This incident caught the attention of the people of entire India. Chandra Shekhar Azad escaped the clutches of the police after looting the treasury, but Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Rajendra Lahiri and Roshan Singh were sentenced to death. The remaining revolutionaries were imprisoned for 4 years and some were punished with black water.

Ram Prasad Bismil: Ram Prasad Bismil was a chief fighter of the revolutionary stream of the Indian independence movement. He was born in Shahjahanpur city of UP. He played an important role in Kakori conspiracy. He is remembered even today as a good poet and lyricist.

Ashfaqulla Khan: Ashfaqulla Khan was born in Shahjahanpur. He played an important role in the Kakori incident. Ashfaqulla Khan was a tremendous poet of Urdu language. Ashfaqulla Khan and Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil were close friends.

Sarfaroshi's wish: During the trial in court after being arrested in the Kakori case, revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil said, 'The desire for Sarfaroshi is now in our heart, to see how much power is there in Bazu-e-Katil?' There were a few lines of Bismil was very fond of writing poems and poetry. Even before embracing the hanging noose, Bismil read some lions of 'Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna '. This lion was the creation of Bismil Azimabadi, the popular poet of Azimabad, Patna. But its identity became more about Ram Prasad Bismil.
