Deepika gave the screen test 4 to 5 times when she got the role of Sita. In the Ramayana, Laxman's character was brought alive by actor Sunil Lahiri. Sunil worked in Vikram Betal. Ramanand Sagar gave him an opportunity to work in Ramayana. But it is surprising that he was not signed for the role of Laxman. Rather, he was going to play the role of Shatrughan. Because actor Shashi Puri refused to play the role of Laxman, after this the role went to Sunil Lahiri. Ravana's character was played by Arvind Trivedi in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana. After many auditions, this is how Deepika was selected for Sita's role
Ramanand Sagar asked Arvind to read the script and after that without hearing any dialogue from him, he cast him for Ravana. Ramayan can never be complete without Vibhishan, so Ramanand Sagar chose Mukesh Rawal to play Vibhishan. Mukesh Rawal was a well-known face even before Ramayana. The only difference was that Mukesh was a theatre artist Ramanand Sagar liked Mukesh during the theatre itself. He liked Mukesh's acting so much that he immediately selected him for the role of Vibhishan. Hanuman's character was played by Dara Singh in Ramayana. Everyone was convinced of his work and the way in which he played Hanuman was a great compliment. But very few people know that Dara Singh himself was avoiding playing Hanuman. It is said that because Dara Singh had reached 60 years of age at that time, he wanted a young man should play this role. But Ramanand Sagar did not agree and he convinced Dara Singh to play Hanuman.
