New Delhi: Many ministers in the Modi government are trying to connect science with the Vedas and Sanatan culture. And this often leads to new controversies. The latest statement of a Union Minister is still in the limelight. Union Human Resources and Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has made a big claim while addressing IIT students. Nishank has said that there is no doubt that Ram Setu is a marvel of engineering. That was built by the ancient Indians. So that India and Sri Lanka can be connected.
He said he believes that the Himalayas, such as Neelkanth (Shiva), protect India by absorbing polluted air from developed countries. The Human Resource Minister was speaking at the convocation program of IIT Kharagpur. He inspired the youth to research the past of the country and use that knowledge for the good of the people. Nishank also asked the National Research Foundation (NRF) to fund the event.
Addressing the students at the conference, Pokhriyal claimed, "Is there any disagreement that our engineers had built the Ram Setu? Nobody came from the US, the UK or Germany to make it. He pointed out that India has been a global leader for centuries, from knowledge to science. He claimed that the first language in the world is Sanskrit. "When we look back, we recall how our engineers built the Ram Setu and our prospective engineers should make an in-depth study on it.
Significantly, in Indian mythology, it is mentioned that Lord Ram's apes had built the Ram Setu to cross the sea to Lanka. When the Minister was asked to have any historical or scientific evidence, he said that there should be research on it.
