Rampur: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former minister Azam Khan has accused the Uttar Pradesh Police that the police had forbidden people to cast their votes by going to their areas. Azam Khan also alleged that the police had threatened people so much that people started fleeing after locking their houses.

The SP leader said, 'Vandalism is going on, people are being arrested. They are being beaten. Police are threatening people not to go out to vote. In a locality behind Tara Mandal, the police have scared the people so much that they have locked their houses and fled from there. It is being said everywhere that do not go to vote. After the cancellation of Azam Khan's legislature, the by-election was organized on the Rampur assembly seat.

Azam Khan was sentenced to three years in jail for giving hate speech on the Rampur Sadar assembly seat, after which his assembly membership was canceled and now a by-election was held on this seat. Voting took place here on Monday (December 5). On this seat, SP nominated Azam's special Asim Raza and BJP gave a ticket to Akash Saxena. The results of this election will be declared on December 8 along with the assembly elections.
