New Delhi: Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor has made a big claim before the Enforcement Directorate. He told the Enforcement Directorate that he was forced to buy a painting of MF Hussain from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He said the amount that was paid was used by the Gandhi family for the treatment of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Let us tell you that this has come to light in the charge sheet filed by the Federal Anti-Money Laundering Agency. Not only that, Rana Kapoor made several claims before the Enforcement Directorate. Rana told the Enforcement Directorate that the then Petroleum Minister Murli Deora had told him that if he did not buy a painting of MF Hussain, he would have a problem getting involved with the Gandhi family. At the same time, he will not be able to get the 'Padma Bhushan' award either.
According to the agency, Rana Kapoor's statement has been recorded under the second supplementary chargesheet (third overall) filed in the special court against yes bank co-founder, his family, Dewan Housing Finance Ltd (DHFL) promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan among others in the money laundering case. Rana Kapoor claimed that he had paid cheques worth Rs 2 crore. Thereafter, Milind Deora had told him that the proceeds of the sale were used by the Gandhi family in the treatment of Sonia Gandhi in New York. Kapoor told the Enforcement Directorate that Ahmed Patel, who is close to Sonia Gandhi, had told him that he had done a good job by helping the Gandhi family at the right time to get Sonia Gandhi's treatment done. So, his name will be considered for the 'Padma Bhushan' award. At the same time, Rana Kapoor in his statement to the Enforcement Directorate has claimed that in the year 2010, Murli Deora had told Rana Kapoor that if he does not buy the painting, it could have an adverse impact on him and Yes Bank.
