New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday said the Narendra Modi government should repeal the laws, completing one year of promulgation of ordinances related to the three agricultural laws. Party chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also said that through these laws, the government wants to make the farmers of the country "bonded labourers".

Surjewala said in a statement, "The Central Government had brought three Black Agriculture Ordinances on this day on 5th June, 2020. He wrote the 2.5 million-crore annual agricultural products business as an 'opportunity' for a handful of his capitalist friends and wrote 'Depression' in the share of 62 crore farmers.

Surjewala claimed that "The Modi government wants to make farmer brothers "bonded labourers" of a few capitalists through unethical provisions of contract farming. According to him, "The Modi government tried to grab farmers' land through an ordinance in 2014 as soon as it came to power. In 2015, the Supreme Court gave an affidavit that 50 percent profit can never be given as support price to farmers except for cost. Then, in 2016, the Prime Minister came up with the Fasal Bima Yojana, which earned a profit of Rs. 26,000 crores by a few insurance companies.
