The quiet yet adventurous Merin of Saajan Bakery Since 1962 was actress Ranjitha Menon’s debut character in Mollywood. She has now bagged yet another movie titled Pathrosinte Padappukal, by Uppum Mulakum fame director and Djibouti co-writer Afzal Abdul Latheef. The film is written by Thanneermathan Dinangal fame writer Dinoy Paulose, who is also playing one of the major roles in the film. In the movie, which also has Sharaf u Dheen, Grace Antony, Suresh Krishna, Shammi Thilakan and Naslen K Gafoor. The film is set in Vypeen in Ernakulam.

Ranjitha tells us, “Pathrosinte Padappukal is a comedy drama and in it, most of the characters are quite loud in nature. But, my character Ammu is the sensible, intelligent and mature one among the lot. But, she also has her own moments of mischief and anger. She is the daughter of a wealthy fish vendor in her area, played by director – actor Johny Antony, while the rest of the characters also hail from the same place.”

Ranjitha says that Ammu’s character is a graduate, who also has a small job. “The story focuses more on the events and proceedings though, more than what she does for a living,” she explains. Earlier, director Dinoy had told us that the movie revolves around a family and also has elements of romance, though everything is told through humour. Pathrosinte Padappukal has music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Jayesh Mohan and editng by Sangeeth Prathap.

The film’s shoot is over, and dubbing and post-production works are pending. The actress says that though no shoots are on at the moment, she is keeping herself busy. “I stay busy doing my dance classes, yoga, zumba and more. I have also taken up a few other projects, about which I can’t say much, now,” she adds.
