U.P - Unnao: An eleven-year-old rape victim has given birth to a baby boy at the district hospital in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.. The health of the new born is being watched in the NICU of the hospital, said doctors.

At first, the girl's pregnancy was not suspected by the police or the medical staff at the CHC (Maurawan), who assumed that her tummy was bloated.

 Sanjay Mishra, the district's child protection officer said, the rape victim was sent to the local hospital after experiencing severe labour pains. "The baby weights 2.60 kilogrammes and was delivered normally. The mother and infant are both in good health" he said.

Preeti Singh, the CWC chairperson, who has maintained regular contact with the family, stated that at first the infant had respiratory problems. "He has been moved to the hospital's NICU, where his condition is being closely watched," she said.

The victim was abducted in January while buying sugar from a nearby store. She was allegedly taken to a cemetery by three guys while having her face disguised, where she was gang-raped. After the police filed their case, three suspects were taken into custody.

SP (Unnao) Dinesh Tripathi said that the family had filed a complaint with the police in February regarding unnamed individuals. The girl's father had promised to provide the identities later in the statement he gave to the magistrate.

Three people were detained for rape and POCSO violations based on the identities he disclosed. In addition, the police charged the suspects under the Gangster Act.

He stated, "The family has provided names of two more individuals, claiming they were also involved in the crime." "We will provide these names to the court and ask for authorization to look into them. In POCSO court, the case is already in trial" said the SP.
