New Delhi: In a bizarre incident,  the sweeper was nabbed on Tuesday in Tilak Nagar, west Delhi, for reportedly rapping an 87-year-old bedridden woman after breaking into her home.

The accused has been identified as Ankit (30). He worked in Tilak Nagar's surrounding neighbourhoods. The event occurred on Sunday night, when the woman's daughter went out to meet a friend, according to the police.

"The case of sexual assault of an elderly women in Tilak Nagar has been solved," the Delhi Police announced in a tweet. The culprit in this blind case was apprehended in just 16 hours. He was able to recover the victim's phone. Accused is a sweeper who lives in an adjacent neighbourhood." Prashant Gautam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), said that on Monday, he received an allegation of an old woman being sexually assaulted. We dispatched a team as soon as we received the information, and within 16 hours, we had located the suspect.
